Jewel Grande Montego Bay for Families: Here Is Why You Should Book This All-Inclusive Resort

If you are looking for a worry-free getaway that the whole family will enjoy, the Jewel Grande Montego Bay 4.5 Star all-suite resort and spa is one of the best kid-friendly hotels in Jamaica. In fact, this is one of the top family all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. This magnificent property is in the Rose Hall area just a 15 minute ride from Montego Bay airport. It is one of the newest resorts in Jamaica and it is ranked as one of the top hotels on the island.

Jewel Grande Accommodations

The Jewel Grande Montego Bay family resort has only 129 rooms so you can be sure that you will get dedicated service. There are accommodations for all size families. They range from ocean view junior suites and one and two-bedroom suites to three-bedroom villas and penthouses.

Restaurants at the Jewel Grande Resort

One thing that always makes or breaks a vacation is the food. Jewel Grande Montego Bay all-inclusive does not disappoint in this area! Even for the pickiest children, there is an option that they will enjoy!

The Jewel Grande has four restaurants that serve dinner, two grills that serve lunch, a buffet that is open at each mealtime, and two coffee shops that also serve dessert.

(Side note: You MUST try the Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee…. even if you do not drink coffee!) You can also order food to your room at any time day or night.

The restaurants are open for dinner only and operate on a schedule. Each restaurant is only open certain nights of the week. Make sure you try them all to get the full experience! Reservations are recommended, so make sure you do that as soon as your checked in to get your preferred time!

  • La Bouchon is a steakhouse and it is very popular.
  • Waves offers authentic Jamaican dishes with several seafood options.
  • Pierside is an open-air restaurant next to the water that serves up Asian fusion cuisine.
  • Moonstone is an Italian restaurant. It is my personal favorite!

Bars at the Jewel Grande Montego Bay

All dining venues offer drinks plus there is a fully stocked mini bar in your room. So, you will never go thirsty! The Lobby Bar, located in the Club House, is one of the most popular spots for drinks at night. The Rum Runner Bar connects to the swim-up bar and is the most popular daytime hangout for bar flies.

Pools and Beach at the Jewel Grande Resort

Another huge draw for the resort is the panoramic beachfront with crystal clear Caribbean water. Plus, there are two outdoor pools and a great swim-up bar that allow you to stay cool while still enjoying the ocean view.

Entertainment at the Jewel Grande All-Inclusive

The entertainment at the resort is one of my favorite inclusions to take advantage of. There are games and scheduled activities every day for those that like to stay active. These family-friendly options include trivia, bingo, and games at the pool and on the beach.

Every night, there is a rotating schedule of entertainment. Our favorites include a circus act and steel drum band. In the past, we’ve seen very talented musicians, dance teams, variety acts, and even magicians.

Water Sports at the Jewel Grande Montego Bay

Another one of our favorite included activities is water sports. You can take out a kayak and paddle around the resort area. A water sports pro can also take you out on a baby catamaran called a Hobie Cat. It is a ton of fun! Stand-up paddle boards are also included with your resort fee!

Water sports including kayaking and Hobie Cat sailing are included activities at the Jewel Grande Montego Bay .

Kids Club at the Jewel Grande All-Inclusive Resort

The Jewel Grande Montego Bay all-inclusive kids club offers activities throughout the day from 9 am to 5 pm for kids between 3 and 12 years old. Kids club activities included sandcastle competitions, making tie-dye shirts and other crafts, dance lessons, and a special pizza party.

The Jewel Grande is a great all-inclusive resort for tweens to! Older kids ages 13 and up can ditch parents and make new friends at the Jewel Grande Teen Lounge. It has the same hours as the Kids Club. Activities include ping pong, bowling, and video games as well as a daily roster of age-appropriate activities.

Another reason why the Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort has one of the best kids clubs is that there is a parents lounge nearby. It is a wonderful place to relax with a pre-dinner drink while your kids play in the kids club!

The Best Montego Bay Family Excursions

There are so many fabulous included activities at the Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort that there is no reason to go off-property. However, if you do want to explore Montego Bay or do an excursion to other areas of Jamaica, there are lots of fun options!

One of the most popular activities is the nighttime bioluminescent lagoon. The Luminous Lagoon is located near Falmouth and allows you the opportunity to glow in the dark as you swim! This rare natural phenomenon is caused by microscopic organisms that emit a phosphorescent light. You can take a Bioluminescent Lagoon Boat Cruise with transfers direct from your Montego Bay resort! Your guide will also explain more about the story of the lagoon.

Another must-do Jamaica excursion is Rick’s Cafe! People come from all over the world to see the sunset from the legendary Rick’s Cafe located at the West End of Jamaica. The spectacular sunsets aren’t the only draw though! Rick’s Cafe cliff divers are another marvel! Watch them do flips and tricks as they jump off the highest points into the Caribbean Sea. You can take a Negril Day Trip to Rick’s Cafe from Montego Bay.

Families also love the Reggae Catamaran Cruise with Snorkeling! This three hour tour includes transfers from the Jewel Grande Resort to a catamaran party cruise where you’ll enjoy included drinks, snacks, and appetizers. Snorkel and swim at Montego Bay Marine Park, a 16 square kilometer nature reserve teaming with sea life. Then enjoy some time at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Montego Bay. Kids will love the 120-foot water slide and water trampolines!

The Grande Spa

For parents that want a little rest and relaxation, the Grande Spa is an excellent treat! It is a full-service spa that offers a suite of spa services as well as a salon for hair and beauty treatments.

The 30,000 square foot spa features Jamaica’s only Himalayan Salt Halotherapy Lounge. Halotherapy is known to detoxify, reduce stress, and increase energy. There is also a small café and juice bar that has delicious freshly squeezed juices, smoothies, and healthy lunch options.

Fitness Activities at the Jewel Grande Montego Bay

For parents seeking sports and adventure while their kids are occupied by the kids’ club, the White Witch Golf Course and Cinnamon Hill Golf Course are each just over one mile from the resort. You can also go sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, or take a romantic stroll or jog on the beach.

There is also an excellent fitness center that has cardio equipment, weights, sauna, and steam room. Fitness classes are offered throughout the day at the gym and include cardio and cycling, yoga, and Pilates. Plus, there are aqua aerobics classes most days of the week.

I have been a guest fitness instructor for Jewel, and it is a great gym environment for those that want to stay fit…or at least maintain their weight…while on vacation! See below for more details on the guest instructor program.

Montego Bay Excursions

Those looking to see more of the island can take their pick among several a la carte off-site excursions. Activities include zip-lining, swimming with dolphins, visiting Mystic Mountain, and the Great House at Rose Hall. This historic mansion is the most haunted place in Jamaica and rumored home of the White Witch.

Guest Fitness Instructor Program

Fitness professionals that have experience teaching group exercise classes, spinning, yoga, Pilates, barre, or Zumba certifications can teach at this resort and enjoy a FREE week’s stay for the entire family with FitBodies. I have done this through Fit Bodies several times and it is an excellent opportunity!

Typically, you need to pay a reservation fee plus contribute to a gift fund or bring a list of items with you to the resort. Then, you teach a couple of classes most days of your stay in exchange for accommodations and free use of the resort including all amenities, food, drinks, and activities with no restrictions.
