About Magnolia Meadow Farms

Magnolia Meadow Farms is a working family farm in Thurmont, Maryland, in northern Frederick County.

The farm encompasses more than 750 acres used to grow hay, corn, and soybeans and raise beef cattle. During fall, the farm transforms part of the property into a family-friendly festival featuring a giant corn maze, pumpkin patch, U-Pick flowers, hayrides, farm animals, games, food, and other activities.

That combination makes Magnolia Meadow Farms a great option for families looking for more than a traditional pumpkin patch.

Why Our Family Loves Magnolia Meadow Farms

We’ve visited Magnolia Meadow Farms as a family, and everyone has their favorites. I love grabbing a freshly baked cider donut and listening to the live music, while visiting the farm animals is always a must for all of us.

My kids especially love the ziplines and apple cannons. You can even win a prize if you hit the apple cannon target. We haven’t managed it yet…but maybe THIS is our year! 😂

🌽 Explore Maryland’s Largest Corn Maze

The centerpiece of the Magnolia Meadow Farms Fall Festival is its enormous corn maze.

Magnolia Meadow Farms calls it Maryland’s largest corn maze, featuring more than five miles of trails.

That’s significantly more substantial than the small corn mazes you’ll find at many fall farms, so give yourself plenty of time if you want to really explore it.

Families with younger children don’t necessarily have to tackle the entire maze. There are plenty of other activities around the farm if little legs decide they’ve had enough.

🌙 Try the Corn Maze After Dark

For an entirely different experience, visit during one of Magnolia Meadow Farms’ Moonlit Maze nights.

The farm remains open until 10 PM on these nights. Bring a flashlight and try navigating the maze after dark.

For families with teens, this could be one of the best times to visit because it turns a traditional fall farm outing into more of an evening adventure.

🎃 Pick Your Own Pumpkins

You can’t have a fall farm day without pumpkins!

Magnolia Meadow Farms grows pumpkins and gourds in different sizes, shapes, and colors, including specialty varieties that are great for fall decorating.

For 2026, pumpkins are $0.79 per pound and are not included with general admission.

You can also purchase pre-picked pumpkins if you’d rather skip hauling your pumpkins out of the field.

🌻 Pick Sunflowers and Flowers

One feature that helps Magnolia Meadow Farms stand out from a basic pumpkin patch is its U-Pick flower experience.

The farm has approximately three acres of sunflowers, including different varieties and colors. You’ll also find seasonal cut flowers that may include zinnias, cosmos, daisies, wildflowers, and other seasonal varieties.

• 🌻 Sunflowers: $2 per stem
• 🌸 Cut flowers: $1 per stem
• 💐 Mason jar: $17 — fill with mixed flowers
• 🪣 Bucket: $25 — fill with mixed flowers

The U-Pick fields are scheduled to operate from 10 AM–6 PM Saturdays and Sundays. You can walk to the fields from the activities area or take the hayride.

Important: The last hayride leaves at 5:30 PM, so don’t wait until closing time to visit the fields.

🚜 Take a Hayride

Hayrides are included among the farm experiences and also provide transportation to the U-Pick area.

It’s a nice way to give everyone a break from walking — especially after navigating part of a five-mile corn maze!

🐄 Visit the Farm Animals

Because Magnolia Meadow Farms is a working farm, agriculture is part of the experience. The farm raises beef cattle in addition to growing hundreds of acres of crops.

Visiting the farm animals is always one of our family’s favorite stops. Even as the kids have gotten older, it’s one of those activities we still make time for when we visit.

For families with younger children, it’s also an easy way to mix a little educational farm experience into a fun fall day.

What’s Included With Magnolia Meadow Farms Admission?

One thing we appreciate about Magnolia Meadow Farms is that general admission includes more than 20 activities, so families can do quite a bit without paying for an add-on at every turn.

The mini ziplines are a favorite with our kids. If you’re visiting with active kids who would rather climb, race, and zip than pose for pumpkin-patch photos, leave plenty of time for the activity area.

🍎 Don’t Miss the Apple Cannons!

If you ask my kids about their favorite activities at Magnolia Meadow Farms, the apple cannons are definitely near the top of the list.

You get to launch apples toward targets — and if you manage to hit the target, you can win a prize!

We haven’t managed to claim that prize yet, but there’s always next time. Maybe 2026 will finally be our year! 😂

Apple cannons cost extra beyond general admission, so keep that in mind when budgeting for your visit. Gem mining is another optional activity available for an additional charge.

🍩 Food, Cider Donuts & Live Music

Food and beverages are available for purchase during the Fall Festival, and the farm’s offerings include items featuring locally raised beef.

But for me, one of the best parts of visiting Magnolia Meadow Farms is much simpler: sitting down with a freshly baked cider donut while listening to the live music.

There’s something about live music, crisp fall weather, and a warm cider donut that makes you want to slow down for a little while instead of racing from one attraction to the next.

Food isn’t included with admission, so remember to factor meals, snacks, drinks — and definitely a cider donut or two — into your budget.

🔥 Reserve a Private Campfire

Groups can also reserve a private campfire.

This could be especially fun for family gatherings, birthday celebrations, scout groups, sports teams, church groups, groups of friends, or families visiting with teens.

Campfires require a separate reservation.

Before heading home, check out the farm market.
