TOM AND JERRY THE MOVIE Review and Printables

TOM AND JERRY THE MOVIE is a live-action family-friendly comedy that hit theaters and HBO Max in February 2021. The story explains how Tom and Jerry first met and how their ongoing rivalry started.

The film runs one hour and 41 minutes and is rated PG. Common Sense Media recommends that it is appropriate for ages 6 and up due to its ‘cartoonish violence’.

The movie is based on the classic cartoon series that was originally created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. This duo also created The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, and The Smurfs.

TOM AND JERRY THE MOVIE Review

We absolutely loved this movie. As a parent, I laughed out loud several times watching Tom and Jerry’s familiar hijinks. The plot had some predictable moments, but it also expertly blended live-action with cartoon characters in surprising ways reminiscent of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The cast included Chloe Grace Moretz in a starring role alongside Michael Pena, who my kids recognized from Ant Man, and Jordan Bolger. Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost also rounded out the cast with some comic relief.

Whether you are a kid or an adult, I am sure you will find this movie enjoyable. I am hoping they make a sequel because I’d love to see more of the adorable Tom and Jerry duo!
