Before we jump into the list of Baltimore restaurants that deliver, we want to take a minute to explain why eating out is safe during the coronavirus quarantine. NJ Advance Media spoke to Donald Schaffner, a Rutgers University professor and extension specialist in food science with expertise in microbial risk assessment and hand washing. He did a great job of explaining the science behind why eating out is safe.
“If it is on food, it’ll go through the acid of your stomach and even if it gets through your stomach, this virus is designed to attack your lungs not necessarily your gastrointestinal system,” Schaffner said.
Schaffner recommended paying with a credit card and letting the restaurant or delivery service know that you want to request contactless delivery. Postmates and UberEats both allow you to request that the driver leave your delivery at the door. Of course, wash your hands thoroughly after you take the food out of the bag and immediately before you eat too!
