Celebrity Edge: Our Caribbean Dream Itinerary

Celebrity isn’t the top name you think of when you think about family cruises, however, they have a BOATLOAD of activities and amenities for young families…especially on the Celebrity Edge. This ship is part of Celebrity Cruise’s Edge® Series and is one of five state-of-the-art outward facing ships.

Celebrity Cruises has been recognized as a top family cruise line by Global Traveler and by Cruise Critic. Celebrity has also held the title of Best Premium Cruise Line from Travel Weekly for ten consecutive years so it is definitely a great choice to go with for our next family sailing adventure!

CELEBRITY EDGE CRUISE HIGHLIGHTS

Accommodations:

If you browse my Instagram account, you’ll quickly see that I am not the type of person that sits still much or that goes for the luxury suite at a hotel. I’d rather spend my money on excursions and experiences…BUT if you are that type of person, then the Celebrity Edge has you covered! The Sky Suites nicknamed as the “stateroom of the future” offer boundary-less ocean views so that you can feel connected to the sea! How cool is that?! There are also other amazing suite categories and even two-story villas that have special amenities such as a private lounge, sundeck, and dining!

Magic Carpet:

Yes, you read that correctly – MAGIC CARPET! The Celebrity Edge also has a futuristic “Magic Carpet” feature that transforms throughout the sailing. This deck extension moves from various decks from dining next to the ocean on a lower deck during the day, a viewing area near the pool at sunset, and then it moves up to a top deck at night for even more amazing views of the nighttime sky and sea!

Recreation:

The ship features a 25-yard lap pool, which is much larger than those on other ships, and elevated martini-shaped hot tubs. The Rooftop Garden is a beautiful space that offers entertainment and food atop the ship’s aft top level. This deck also has a Sunset Bar, a jogging track, and a fitness center complete with strength and cardio Technogym® equipment and a range of boutique classes from hot yoga to cardio boxing.

Check out the Celebrity Edge Reveal on YouTube to get an overview of this innovation at sea! The video highlights the suites, entertainment, and recreation areas. Cruise Critic also has some great pictures and an in-depth review of this ship.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY CRUISE HIGHLIGHTS

There are also special amenities on the Celebrity Edge cruise ship for families, which include the following:

Kids Clubs:

These clubs are broken down by age and offer entertainment from morning until late at night:

  • The Fun Factory is for children ages 3-12 and offers everything from games to theme parties and karaoke in addition to art and S.T.E.M. focused activities.
  • The X-Club is a supervised space just for teens that includes video games, recreational activities, and teen-only dance parties.
  • Toddler Time is a space for children under 3 years old. This is not a parent drop-off service, but babysitting is an option for parents that wish to take some time for themselves.

Special Programs:

  • Kids can take advantage of unique programs to learn something new while at sea such as videography and how to stay healthy. The programs are done in a fun way though, so they won’t even notice the lesson behind it!
  • They can also participate in other optional activities such as a V.I.P. behind-the-scenes ship tour!

Babysitting:

Aside from the kids’ programs, there are two different options for babysitting. The Fun Factory hosts lunch, dinner, and slumber parties at an affordable rate. As an alternative, you can arrange for a babysitter to come to your private stateroom so you can tuck your kids into bed and go have some adults-only fun!

Family-Friendly Entertainment:

As I mentioned earlier, we are an active family that is always ready to do things and explore! So, our family would really make good use of the expansive list of games, activities, and entertainment offered on the ship! There are daily hosted events such as game shows and trivia contests as well as recreational amenities like ping pong and bocce ball that families can play together. During days at sea, there are also special lectures and classes offered by visiting guests.

Plus, one of our family’s favorite parts of the cruise experience is the evening shows! Celebrity offers something different each night from Broadway-style shows to live music and magic too! Celebrity has some adults-only performances so kids can get a nice mix of attending shows and hanging out in the kids’ club.

Celebrity Edge is a dream of a ship and I cannot wait to get aboard! Plus, there are FOUR more sister ships in the Celebrity Edge Series with a similar outward facing structure and impressive line-up of cruise amenities!
